YOUTH CAMP ORGANIZED ON THE OCCASION OF NATIONAL YOUTH DAY

On the occasion of National Youth Day, 12 January, Swamy Vivekananda's Birthday, a Youth Camp was organized at Burujugadda village in Rangareddy District of Telangana State by Vasavya Society for Rural Development (VASORD) under the auspices of Sevagram Ashram Pratishtan.  About 70 people participated in this Camp.  The Theme for National Youth Day - 2016 is "Indian Youth for Development, Skill and Harmony".


Dr. Volker Mueller from Germany was the Chief Guest who organized Youth Exchange Programmes for over 20 years between India and Germany.  He garlanded the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi with 'Sutmala' and after offering tributes to the Father of the Nation the visiting German team was taken in procession with traditional dance and welcome to the venue of the Camp

 A team of 30 people from Addakal Mandal in Mahaboobnagar District also joined the Camp.   VASORD undertook development of Burujugadda village for over 25 years which brought in many changes in the village.  These include improved incomes through milch animals, housing, education, health, Youth activities etc.  The visiting team consisted of People's representatives of the Mandal and the villages in that Mandal.
 The Participants of the Camp and the German Team sang 'We shall Overcome' together.

 The well attended Camp had participants who attended National Youth Camp held at Sevagram organized by Sarva Seva Sangh from 24 to 28 December 2015.  Some of them participated in Youth camps organized by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti in New Delhi.

Dr. Volker Mueller giving his Inaugural Address.  Also seen in the picture are Sri Harinath Medi from the USA who is pioneering the concept of 'Self Help for developing villages' called 'SWAGRAMA SEVA'  and Sri Ravinder Reddy from Kandur village who served as Sarpanch of the Village and took up a number of developmental activities.

As part of the Camp 'Achievers' from Burujugadda were recognized and honoured.  Below a 'One Girl Child Family' is being honoured.  Usually people in villages get more children waiting for a baby boy.  This family adopted one child norm though it was with a girl child.
 Another Achiever is honoured who acquired self sufficiency by growing a kitchen garden and vegetables required for the whole family.

Chekkala Yellaiah, President of Mandal Praja Parishat, Shamshabad giving a talk.  Sri Siddeswar, Sarpanch from Sultanpur also visited Burujugadda and participated in the Meeting.  Two Police Officers gave talks in this Youth Camp


Certificates were given to those participants who attended the Youth Camp in Sevagram in December 2015
