SRI PRASAD VISITS NANDURA

Sri Prasad visited Nandura on 15-16 March and met Sri Velurkar Guruji who is Chairman of Vidarbha Bhoodan Yagna Mandal and carrying forward the message and work of Rashtra Sant Sri Tukdoji Maharaj.  Guruji organizes several Youth Camps for giving 'sanskar'  an orientation on self and society.  He is highly respected in the area and has his influence on the moral living of people.

INCOME GENERATION PROGRAMME FOR YOUTH IN SEVAGRAM ASHRAM

A Gramodyog Unit was started by Sri Chakradhar and his team to strengthen Youth Movement by providing them livelihoods.  In a space provided by Sevagram Ashram Pratishtan, the team started producing Tooth Powder, Incence Sticks, Phinile and other articles.  About 15 persons are provided employment at present and plans for more Youth are being made.

SRI DINKAR CHOUDARY VISITS SEVAGRAM ASHRAM

Sri Dinkar Choudary from Vidarbha Bhoodan Yagna Mandal visited Sevagram Ashram and had discussions with Sri GVVSDS Prasad and Sri Shankar Bagade.  The three are working on bringing awareness and skills for the Youth from the families of Bhoodan Farmers.  A survey is undertaken to enlist the Youth for this purpose.

SATYAGRAHA ON FARMERS ISSUES

Sri Avinash Kakde and others undertook a fast demanding the government to resolve the problems of Farmers in Vidarbha region.  Many farmers in this region of Maharashtra committed suicide.  One of the issues is that the cotton purchased from the farmers was not paid for by the big traders who have political connections.

Sarva Seva Sangh expressed its solidarity for the Satyagraha.  Sri GVVSDS Prasad visited the Satyagraha at Nagpur on 9th March and handed over a letter from Sarva Seva Sangh.  Sri Shaik Hussain, Sri Shankar Bagade also participated in the meeting and the three addressed the Satyagrahis.





SEVAGRAM ASHRAM UNDERTAKES WATER PROGRAMME

Sevagram Ashram Pratishtan, Sevagram, Wardha undertook several measures to harvest, conserve and manage water.  Sri Sriram Jhadav, Secretary of the Ashram took the initiative along with Sri Bhavesh Chavan and other team members.  Sri GVVSDS Prasad visited these measures which will have a long term impact on improving ground water levels in the area.







APPA - ANNA MITRA MILAN PUNE 10-11 MARCH 2016

Mahatma Gandhi's disciples, Appa Patwardhan, known as Konkan Gandhi who set up an Ashram in Gopuri, Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra and Annasaheb Sahasrabuddhe who undertook Gandhian Constructive work on Gram Swaraj in Koraput in Odisha inspired many Gandhians in the country. Appasaheb Patwardhan devoted his entire life for sanitation and developing rural energy through bio-gas.  Mahatma Gandhi had chosen him to the task of village sanitation which is one of the 18-point Constructive Programme. In their memory, every year Appa-Anna Mitra Milan is organized in which their followers meet and exchange their ideas and experiences.

During the Appa-Anna Mitra Milan held at Pune on 10-11 March 2016 awards were given to Sri Mahavir Tyagi and Dr. Shivcharan Thakur for their life-long work.  This function was attended by Sri GVVSDS Prasad and he addressed the meeting of the Maharashtra Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal.

PRASAD MEETS BIRAD YAGNIK OF DIGITAL GANDHI MUSEUM

On 4th March Sri Prasad visited Sri Birad Yagnik who produced a Photo-Book on Mahatma Gandhi and set up Digital Gandhi Museum in Bapughat in Hyderabad.  Ms. Vidya Bhandarkar who is working on Gandhian legacy and work of South Africa was also present.  The three discussed to take forward these activities by involving youth, Gandhian Organizations and technology.
