Lecture on Gandhian Values for High School Teachers in Mahaboobnagar District

Prof. Vijay Kumar, District Education Officer (DEO) arranged a talk on Gandhian Values for High School Teachers in Mahaboobnagar District on February 8., 2012. As an officer concerned with quality of education and values in education, he arranged a Lecture by Sri Prasad, General Secretary AP Sarvodaya Mandal. About 150 Teachers from different Schools participated in this programme in addition to Deputy Education Officers.

Nancy Underwood, Peace Activist from USA also participated and addressed the Teachers.

Swadeshi products were displayed and the Teachers bought tooth powder, soaps, Khadi material, Gandhian literature etc. which was organized by Sri G. Sampath Rao and Rupesh.

Gandhi Course in Rajahmundry Prison

A three Month Certificate Course on Gandhian Thought is going on in Special Prison for Women in Rajahmundry. Earlier four such courses were conducted in Central Prison, Rajahmundry. These courses have a considerable impact on the minds and behaviour of the Prisoners.

Mangayamma, Lecturer in a local Colleges visits the Prison twice a week to conduct regular classes. In addition, other Sarvodaya Leaders and Scholars visit these prisons to give Gandhian inputs.

Sarvodaya Youth Camp Sevagram March 2012

Sarvodaya Youth Camp was organized successfully in Sevagram from 1 to 5 March 2012. 25 participants from 7 states participated actively in the Camp.

Indicore Volunteers' meet in Ahmedabad

Sri Prasad addressed a group of Indicore volunteers from the USA who were undergoing their pre-project placement orientation in Gujarat Vidyapith on 5th September. He met some of the Organizers of Indicore in California USA and they requested Sri Prasad to provide Gandhian inputs for Indicore volunteers. These volunteers, mostly from the USA spend nearly a year in Indian Development Projects providing their skills and knowledge.

The Group is undergoing orientation for the current year in Gujarat Vidyapith. Sri Prasad gave a broad outline of Sarvodaya Philosophy, its application in present day context. These ideas were well received by the group.

Gandhi King Foundation Programme in Burujugadda

On 7th August, a village programme was organized in Burujugadda Thanda where a Dental Check up and treatment camp was organized. Sri Prasad. Sri Ch. Venkatramaiah, Ms. Swarajya Laxmi and others addressed the youth, women and children of Burujugadda.

This village was transformed through a process of development undertaken by Vasavya Society for Rural Development under the leadership of sri Prasad. It achieved 100 % literacy, health coverage, sustainable employment. Many children who studied in Vasavya vidyalayam some 15-20 years ago have become MBAs, B.Tech. etc.

Karya Samiti meeting SSS Farrukhabad

Sri Prasad Returned from the US on August 2 and attended the Karya Samiti meeting of Sarva Seva Sangh held in Farrukhabad in U.P. on 4 & 5. He held discussions with Radha Bhatt, President of Sarva Seva Sangh in addition to presenting a perspective paper on Prasikshan and Prabodhan.

Sarvodaya Study Camp Successful in Wanaparthi

Sarvodaya Study Camp was successfully organized in Wanaparthi. 25 participants from Ananthapur, Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Warangal and Hyderabad Districts participated. Dr. L. Muralidhar, Hon. President, Jana Vignana Vedika organized and hosted the Camp and Sri Prasad provided the subject inputs for the Camp. Dr. Muralidhar, Sri SampathRao gave talks. Sarvodaya philosophy, history, its relevance and application for present society were discussed. marketing of Swadeshi products was taken as part of the Camp. Melodious, thought provoking songs were rendered by many artists - Lenin Babu, Sudhakar Naik, M.A. Sattar, Sadiq, Nagaraju and others.

Participants felt the need to organize more such Camps.
